Book Excerpt :

Life is all about a journey. Everybody is on some kind of journey in his life knowingly or unknowingly. For every journey, there is a starting point; in other words, to start a journey, everybody needs a foundation which determines his final destination. If the foundation is wrong, then the whole journey will also be in the wrong direction, and nothing is worse than travelling in the wrong direction throughout your life. If you miss the real root you can’t bear the real fruit for your root determines your fruit. In the spiritual world, so many people are fake passport holders. They claim to inherit the kingdom of God but they can never inherit it until they accept this truth. The only truth is if Christ is your foundation, then heaven is your destination. Jesus Christ is the only way who can guide you throughout the journey, from the foundation to the final destination. By using the journey of the Israelites for forty years as a model in my book Keep Your Eternal Passport in a Safe Place, we will see how to finish successfully the journey of life from the foundation to the final destination.

Book Short Summary:

From Bill Minutaglio and Steven L. Davis, authors of the PEN Center USA award-winning Dallas 1963, comes a madcap narrative about Timothy Leary's daring prison escape and run from the law. On the moonlit evening of September 12, 1970, an ex-Harvard professor with a genius I.Q. studies a twelve-foot high fence topped with barbed wire. A few months earlier, Dr. Timothy Leary, the High Priest of LSD, had been running a gleeful campaign for California governor against Ronald Reagan. Now, Leary is six months into a ten-year prison sentence for the crime of possessing two marijuana cigarettes. Aided by the radical Weather Underground, Leary's escape from prison is the counterculture's union of "dope and dynamite," aimed at sparking a revolution and overthrowing the government. Inside the Oval Office, President Richard Nixon drinks his way through sleepless nights as he expands the war in Vietnam and plots to unleash the United States government against his ever-expanding list of domestic enemies. Antiwar demonstrators are massing by the tens of thousands; homemade bombs are exploding everywhere; Black Panther leaders are threatening to burn down the White House; and all the while Nixon obsesses over tracking down Timothy Leary, whom he has branded "the most dangerous man in America." Based on freshly uncovered primary sources and new firsthand interviews, THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN IN AMERICA is an American thriller that takes readers along for the gonzo ride of a lifetime. Spanning twenty-eight months, President Nixon's careening, global manhunt for Dr. Timothy Leary winds its way among homegrown radicals, European aristocrats, a Black Panther outpost in Algeria, an international arms dealer, hash-smuggling hippies from the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, and secret agents on four continents, culminating in one of the trippiest journeys through the American counterculture.

Book Short Summary:

Part detective work, part treasure chest, full of history and scandal, The Gilded Chalet takes you on a grand tour of two centuries of great writing by both Swiss and foreign authors and shows how Switzerland has always been at the center of literary Europe. Two centuries after the Romantics went there to invent Gothic horror, the lure of Switzerland hasn't left us. Writers from the Fitzgeralds to Fleming, Highsmith to Hemingway, Conan Doyle to le Carré, came to escape world wars, political persecution, tuberculosis. They came for sanctuary (from oppression or the tax man), for fresh air and nude sunbathing, for scenery resembling, as Rooney puts it, 'Mother Nature on steroids.' Patricia Highsmith spent her last years in a granite home in Ticino with a fridge containing little but peanut butter and vodka. Hermann Hesse had himself buried to the neck as a cure for alcoholism. Nabokov chased butterflies and played tennis on the hotel courts. When it comes to literature, it seems all roads lead to Switzerland. Padraig Rooney peers through the chalet windows and discovers how Switzerland has influenced some of the greatest authors and characters of literature.

Book Short Summary:

A young diplomat is torn between two women during the earliest days of the Vietnam War in this “wide-ranging and well-written” novel (The Christian Science Monitor). Harry Sanders is a young Foreign Service officer in 1960s Indochina when the course of his life is suddenly altered by a dangerous and clandestine meeting with insurgents that ends in quiet disaster—and a brief but passionate encounter with Sieglinde, a young German woman. Absorbing the impact of his misstep, Harry returns briefly to Washington before traveling to Africa, Scandinavia, and the Mediterranean on assignments. He marries the captivating May, who is fleeing her own family disappointments in New England and looking for an escape into Harry’s diplomatic life. On the surface, they are a handsome, successful couple—but the memory of Sieglinde persists in Harry’s thoughts, and May has her own secrets too. As Harry navigates the increasingly treacherous waters of diplomacy in an age of interminable conflict, he also tries to narrow the distance between himself and the two alluring women who have chosen to love him, in a novel from a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award finalist that “considers the toll that a life lived upon the great stage of international politics can take on a man of substance” (Kirkus Reviews).

Book Short Summary:

First published in 1891, this volume contains a treatise by Joseph. A. Seiss on "The Epistle of Paul The Apostle to the Hebrews", one of the books of the New Testament. It is generally attributed to Paul the Apostle, and scholars of Greek consider its writing to be more polished and eloquent than any other book of the New Testament. This volume will appeal to those with an interest in Christian Scripture, and it would make for a fantastic addition to allied collections. Joseph Augustus Seiss (March 18, 1823 - June 20, 1904) was an American theologian and Lutheran minister most famous for his contributions to pyramidology and dispensationalism. His best-known work is "The Great Pyramid of Egypt, Miracle in Stone: Secrets and Advanced Knowledge" (1877), considered a primary text of pyramidology. Other notable works by this author include: "The Last Times and the Great Consummation" (1856), "The Children of Silence; Or, The Story of the Deaf" (1887), and "The Letter of Jesus" (1888). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.

Another nail-biter. Johnny Skull and his WI-7 team are on a mission to rid the United States of modern-day Nazis; an extremely vigorous goal, indeed. But who in the American government is working against them? Who in the underworld is working with them? “The prologue sets the stage, then events happen at break-neck speed all the way to the end. Book Short Summary:

Michael Dante played the title role in Winterhawk (1975), a Western about a legendary Blackfoot Chief’s character and his principles. In this novella sequel, he pens an ageless saga about ruthless railroad executives trying to assassinate him in order to build their railroad directly through his territory, taking the Blackfoot land without provocation. Winterhawk and his tribe remain strong as long as they can, to protect the land of their people, the land they call home, before the invasion of progress imposes itself on America. This inspiring story of a brave man, who stands up to and fight against those who have their own agenda for his land, evokes the nostalgic atmosphere of Western series that Dante frequently appeared in during American television’s Golden Era, such as Death Valley Days, The Big Valley, Daniel Boone, Custer, The Texan, Bonanza, Maverick, and Cheyenne.
