During the day, perhaps you if are not working, you could take a 20 minute nap, which could help you feel better during the evening. Everyone is different so you will need to find out for yourself what your body requires for sleep. Drink plenty of water. Water will help carry out toxins, other related bugs and things that your system does not need. Water is the only fluid that will really flush ones system out. It is recommended to drink water every day. Remember next time you are out and need something to drink. Stop and pick up a bottle of water. You will save money and your health without sugar, carbon and other ingredients in a soda. Protect yourself from hazards that can harm you. Do you like to ride a bike? Do you wear a helmet? Book Short Summary:

Three years ago, Spiri Tsintziras found herself mentally, physically and spiritually depleted. She was stretched thin – raising kids, running a household and managing a business. She ate too much in order to keep going and then slumped in front of the telly at night, exhausted, asking herself ‘What is it all for?’ Spiri’s quest for a healthier, more nourishing life took her from her suburban home in Melbourne to her family’s homeland of Greece, and to the small Greek island of Ikaria. The people of Ikaria – part of the famous ‘Blue Zones’ – live happy, healthy and long lives. Everything you need to know you will find in here.” —Neil Scott, host, Recovery Coast to Coast radio Hope, support, and a clear road map for people with drug or alcohol addiction. Announcing a completely revised and updated second edition of The Recovery Book, the Bible of addiction recovery. The Recovery Book provides a direct and easy-to-follow road map to every step in the recovery process, from the momentous decision to quit to the emotional, physical, and spiritual issues that arise along the way. Its comprehensive and effective advice speaks to people with addiction, their loved ones, and addiction professionals who need a proven, trusted resource and a supportive voice. This new edition features the revolutionary Recovery Zone System, which divides a life in recovery into three chronological zones and provides guidance on exactly what to do in each zone. First is the Red Zone, where the reader is encouraged to stop everything, activate their recovery and save their life. Next is the Yellow Zone, where the reader can begin to rebuild a life that was torn apart by addiction. Finally, the reader reaches the Green Zone, where they can enjoy a life of recovery and help others. And the Recovery Zone ReCheck is a simple and effective relapse prevention tool. The Recovery Zone System works hand-in-hand with the 12-step philosophy and all other recovery methods. The Recovery Book covers new knowledge about addiction mechanisms and neuroplasticity, explaining how alcohol and drugs alter the brain. The authors outline a simple daily practice, called TAMERS, that helps people to use those same processes to “remold their brains” around recovery, eventually making sobriety a routine way of life. Written by Al J. Mooney, M.D., a recovery activist who speaks internationally on recovery, and health journalists Catherine Dold and Howard Eisenberg, The Recovery Book covers all the latest in addiction science and recovery methods. Book Short Summary:

The lure of drugs and alcohol is capturing today's youth in its fatal grip and may ultimately destroy our nation's future generations. The vicious cycle of abuse is one that parents, teachers, counselors, and other citizens decry on a daily basis. Dr. Thomas Milhorn, an expert on adolescent drug abuse, provides crucial information on all the major drugs of abuse - including depressants, narcotics, stimulants, cannabinoids, inhalants, steroids, and hallucinogens - and their lethal consequences. Dr. Milhorn contends that in order to confront the monster that is destroying our children's health and quality of life, we must first understand the psyche of drug and alcohol abusers and the natural progression of the disease of addiction. This respected physician and physiologist reveals the harmful combinations currently in vogue in the drug world and the shortand long-term effects they have on the body, and discusses ways to recognize and pinpoint the telltale signs of a user. He explores the question of why adolescents abuse drugs, as well as special issues affecting young female addicts. This powerful book also examines the fatal relationship between drugs and AIDS, and includes a brief history of AIDS, and lifesaving advice on AIDS prevention. Dr. Milhorn skillfully assesses the various inpatient and outpatient treatment choices. He realistically portrays the intense physical and emotional stages the user will pass through before becoming drug free, as well as the stresses placed upon families during the recovery process. As this valuable book relates, both parents and teachers have clearly defined roles, and each can use his or her own brand of influence to aid the adolescent on the journey back to a healthy mind and body. Finally, Dr. Milhorn presents a list of successful options available if a first treatment attempt should fail. We live in a society where 12-year-olds are budding alcoholics and children are bombarded in school hallways with solicitations to experiment with illicit drugs. With the practical wisdom of this authoritative and accessible guide, we can learn the techniques that will save our next generation from ruining their lives through hopeless addiction.

Book Short Summary:

A guide to the foundational practice of “smiling to the organs” to promote deep relaxation and internal health • Presents exercises that dissolve the physical and mental tensions that can cause energy blockages and unhealthy chi flow • Shows how to recognize illness at its inception on the organ level and how to balance the emotions to heal it The Inner Smile is a practice that focuses gratitude and joy on the internal organs to resolve the physical and mental tensions that can lead to illness. In Taoism negative emotions--anger, sadness, depression, fear, and worry--are seen as low-grade energy that causes chronic disease and steals our major life force by creating energy blockages. Master Mantak Chia shows that the internal awareness produced by the simple yet powerful Inner Smile meditation practice flushes the organs of poisonous negative energy that may be blocking chi energy flow in order to nourish the entire body. Just as a genuine outer smile transmits positive energy and has the power to warm and heal, an inner smile produces a high grade of energy that promotes powerful internal healing, deep relaxation, happiness, and longevity. Smiling to the organs and thanking them for the work they do helps to reawaken the intelligence of the body, which, once activated, can dissipate emotional imbalances and inner disharmony before serious illness manifests.

Book Short Summary:

Do you feel like it's time to start taking better care of yourself? Do you want to look and feel better? If you ask my dad what "clean eating" is, he'll act confused and tell you it probably means not to eat things off the floor. What do you think of when you hear "clean eating"? Do you imagine some locally grown organic lettuce leaves sitting sadly on a plate? Do you think of green juice or health supplements? Yoga and detox diets? Well, you won't find any of that in this book. Instead, we're going to focus on healthy and more realistic ways of eating - common sense that isn't all that common anymore. Clean eating is a lifestyle and an attitude more than it is a set of forbidden foods. Though some might disagree, you can eat meat, wheat, and dairy and still have a "clean" diet, and you most certainly don't need to spend a lot of money on "superfoods". During this challenge, you'll try to let go of the mythical ideal diet; we will focus on continuous improvement rather than perfection. And, most importantly, flexibility and joy rather than deprivation. The only one who knows if a diet is good for you or not is your own body. So ask it! During the 21 days of the challenge, we'll look at opportunities to clear away foods that are hindering your health and replace them with better ones. You will be amazed by how much impact healthy eating will have on your overall well-being and the way you look. The 21-Day Clean Eating Challenge will help you to: Make better food choices throughout the dayWake up every morning feeling refreshed and well restedNormalize blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and digestionAnd more!

Book Short Summary:

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “An unflinching examination of how our drinking culture hurts women and a gorgeous memoir of how one woman healed herself.”—Glennon Doyle, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Untamed “You don’t know how much you need this book, or maybe you do. Either way, it will save your life.”—Melissa Hartwig Urban, Whole30 co-founder and CEO The founder of the first female-focused recovery program offers a groundbreaking look at alcohol and a radical new path to sobriety. We live in a world obsessed with drinking. We drink at baby showers and work events, brunch and book club, graduations and funerals. Yet no one ever questions alcohol’s ubiquity—in fact, the only thing ever questioned is why someone doesn’t drink. It is a qualifier for belonging and if you don’t imbibe, you are considered an anomaly. As a society, we are obsessed with health and wellness, yet we uphold alcohol as some kind of magic elixir, though it is anything but. When Holly Whitaker decided to seek help after one too many benders, she embarked on a journey that led not only to her own sobriety, but revealed the insidious role alcohol plays in our society and in the lives of women in particular. What’s more, she could not ignore the ways that alcohol companies were targeting women, just as the tobacco industry had successfully done generations before. Fueled by her own emerging feminism, she also realized that the predominant systems of recovery are archaic, patriarchal, and ineffective for the unique needs of women and other historically oppressed people—who don’t need to lose their egos and surrender to a male concept of God, as the tenets of Alcoholics Anonymous state, but who need to cultivate a deeper understanding of their own identities and take control of their lives. When Holly found an alternate way out of her own addiction, she felt a calling to create a sober community with resources for anyone questioning their relationship with drinking, so that they might find their way as well. Her resultant feminine-centric recovery program focuses on getting at the root causes that lead people to overindulge and provides the tools necessary to break the cycle of addiction, showing us what is possible when we remove alcohol and destroy our belief system around it. Written in a relatable voice that is honest and witty, Quit Like a Woman is at once a groundbreaking look at drinking culture and a road map to cutting out alcohol in order to live our best lives without the crutch of intoxication. You will never look at drinking the same way again.

There is no such thing as an alcoholic and there is no such disease as alcoholism! (as society understands it). Whether you agree with this statement or not, one thing is for sure, you will never see alcohol in the same light ever again after reading this book. Jason Vale takes an honest and hard hitting look at people's conceptions of our most widely consumed drug. This book is much more than a simple eye opener, it will: change the way you see alcohol forever; show you how to stop drinking; help you enjoy the process and enjoy your life so much more than you do now without having to drink alcohol. So open your mind and take a journey with Jason to explore the myths about the most used and accepted drug addiction in the world!

Book Short Summary:

“...the minute I picked this book up I was on an emotional rollercoaster. It was the most amazing journey to find myself crying one minute and laughing the next with the author’s infectious wit and undeniable honesty. The diary entries are so raw and vulnerable, and have been written in a way that I have never experienced before. I identified with many things throughout the book and found myself recalling significant events from my own adolescent years that I believed I had blocked or forgotten about. At times it felt like there was nowhere to hide; the words I was reading were so confronting it felt as though they were written just for me! Taking this journey with the author allowed me to deal with what was coming up for me personally, and move past those feelings to a place that felt good for me. With every page that I read I couldn’t believe how I was not only totally enthralled in the authors personal life story, but that I was actually also uncovering so much about who I am as a person at my very core. It allowed me to discover the parts of myself that I didn’t like or accept yet, and also how to recognise this in my day-to-day life. I have now learned to accurately identify my feelings in each moment of my day, and with some conscious effort also remember to be much more kind and loving towards myself. I thank the writer of this book for allowing me a glimpse into her own life through courageously sharing and exposing her soul. What I have gained from reading it is without a doubt the best gift anyone could ever give.”
