Book Short Summary:

Examine the evidence presented in the New Testament. It shows that the Christian belief in the resurrection of Jesus is not based on historic evidence. The New Testament evidence is contradictory in fundamental issues and events. Its most salient promise -- that of a return by Jesus within the lifetime of his contemporaries never occurred. Christian apologists have spent the last 2000 years devising many different and often contradictory explanations of what they allege the New Testament really means when it promises a quick return by Jesus. They cannot all be right, but they can all be wrong. When all the Christian theological myths are seen for the fantasies they are it comes down to this -- Jesus was never God's son, did not shed his blood on the cross, was not a substitute who took upon himself the punishment for the sins of others, did not die to save sinners and was not resurrected. And he is never coming back.

Book Short Summary:

John Paul Heil presents an original analysis of the theme of worship in the book of Revelation guided by a new illustration of its comprehensive chiastic structure. The worship that Revelation exhorts and enables is in the divine Spirit of prophetic witness against all forms of idolatrous worship on earth in favor of a true, heavenly, and universal worship of the Lord God and the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb, for an eternal and heavenly life. The audience begins this worship in the eucharistic supper into which Revelation leads them by inviting them to respond to the promise of Jesus, "Yes, I am coming soon," with "Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!" They thereby affirm and welcome the coming of the Lord Jesus, the exalted sacrificial Lamb, to the eucharistic supper that anticipates his final coming and the divine grace, the gift of eternal life, of the Lord Jesus that is intended to be the destiny of all--"The grace of the Lord Jesus with all!"

Book Short Summary:

The book of Hebrews appeared during a critical time in the history of the early church. The destruction of Jerusalem was impending and many of the believers believed the end of the world was near. However, Paul warned the church against entertaining a false hope, for he knew they were misguided with their beliefs. It was a critical time—the apostles were passing away, and soon the church would be left alone. It was in this hour of perplexity that the book of Hebrews appeared with needed light and comfort. The people needed a clear conception of the work Christ was doing for them in the courts above, and this book explained the delay in His return, and restored their wavering faith. The conditions and problems which the church then had to meet are not unlike those facing the church today. While the early church was living at the time of the fulfillment of the first part of Christ’s prophecy—the destruction of the city of Jerusalem and the temple, we are living at the time of the fulfillment of the second part of the prophecy—the coming of the Lord Jesus in the clouds of heaven. As there was misconceptions of Christ’s work in the sanctuary then, so there are those now who likewise err. There is as much need today of a thorough study of the Scriptures as there was then, and more so. The book of Hebrews was a great factor in stabilizing the apostolic church in the crisis hour before the fall of Jerusalem, and it is hoped that a discussion of the mighty themes of the book of Hebrews will be of some help to the church of God today. All need to have their eyes fastened on our great High Priest and the work He is doing in the sanctuary above. And may it be the blessed privilege of many with “boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh.” (Heb. 10:19, 20.) This was the prayer and hope of the author of Hebrews, and this also is the hope of the author of this volume.

Book Short Summary:

The names of God are like a rainbow--each name expresses part of the spectrum of the character and attributes of God. Along the way, the author tenderly answers tough questions: Which of the Hebrew names of God is His personal name--Yahweh or Jehovah? What does it mean to pray in Jesus’ name? How can we relate to the Holy God and the Judge? Why is a God of love called the “Jealous God”? What does it mean to call Jesus the Messiah? "The Name Quest" mentions all the names of God in the Bible while explaining their significance in ordinary language.

Book Short Summary:

Beginning with some background information on the Mount of Olives, the temples of Jerusalem, the Passover week, and the mindset of Jesus' disciples, this book employs this author's composite of the Olivet Discourse passage found in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, to expound upon the prophecies presented by Jesus to His closest disciples. After hearing His disciples' inquires, Jesus delineated details of events which would take place after His departure into heaven, up and through the time of His return to establish His Earthly Kingdom. The disciples were anticipating an immediate arrival of Jesus' Kingdom, but Jesus, knowing this, gave them an accounting of events which must take place prior to the establishment of that Kingdom. He began by giving a direct warning to the disciples, followed by an explanation of trials that they would personally encounter. Jesus then told these disciples about the demise of Jerusalem which would take place in 70 A.D. Following that, He spoke of the coldness of heart which will permiate the society in the end times. He gave them the "Abomination of Desolation" as a sign of the approach of the end of the age. Jesus detailed the events which will surround His return to set up His Earthly Kingdom. Moreover, through parables, Jesus taught His disciples and those who will His discourse the importance of being prepared for His return. In the final scene of this discourse, Jesus presents a picture of a judgment which will take place in preparation for the establishment of His Kingdom. There are many lessons to be learned through Jesus' presentation of the Olivet Discourse. This writer hopes that his readers will take to heart the lessons of this most prophetic disclosure on the end of the age.

Book Short Summary:

Christopher Columbus returned to Europe in the final days of 1500, ending his third voyage to the Indies not in triumph but in chains. Seeking to justify his actions and protect his rights, he began to compile biblical texts and excerpts from patristic writings and medieval theology in a manuscript known as the Book of Prophecies. This unprecedented collection was designed to support his vision of the discovery of the Indies as an important event in the process of human salvation - a first step toward the liberation of Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim domination. This work is part of a twelve-volume series produced by U.C.L.A.'s Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies which involved the collaboration of some forty scholars over the course of fourteen years. In this volume of the series, Roberto Rusconi has written a complete historical introduction to the Book of Prophecies, describing the manuscript's history and analyzing its principal themes. His edition of the documents, the only modern one, includes a complete critical apparatus and detailed commentary, while the facing-page English translations allow Columbus's work to be appreciated by the general public and scholars alike.

Book Short Summary:

Hailed as early Christian texts as important as the Dead Sea Scrolls, yet condemned by the Vatican as Islamic heresies, the Lead books of Granada, written on discs of lead and unearthed on a Granadan hillside, weave a mysterious tale of duplicity and daring set in the religious crucible of sixteenth-century Spain. This book evaluates the cultural status and importance of these polyvalent, ambiguous artefacts which embody many of the dualities and paradoxes inherent in the racial and religious dilemmas of Early Modern Spain. Using the words of key individuals, and set against the background of conflict between Spanish Christians and Moriscos in the late fifteen-hundreds, The Lead Books of Granada tells a story of resilient resistance and creative ingenuity in the face of impossibly powerful negative forces, a resistance embodied by a small group of courageous, idealistic men who lived a double life in Granada just before the expulsion of the Moriscos.

Book Short Summary:

Does the Bible predict an asteroid…or something else? This book will challenge your interpretation of end-times theology and help you sharpen your understanding in light of current times. Does Revelation 8:10–11 describe an asteroid? Is the Wormwood star from Revelation 8 already headed toward Earth? Are NASA and high-level government officials aware of an asteroid that is on a collision course with our planet? Is that why President Trump sanctioned a colossal increase to planetary defense? Do the prophecies from ancient cultures and religions across the globe all point to a catastrophic planetary event that has scientists and politicians taking extreme preventative measures under the public radar? Earth is not currently prepared for the scope of impact that may be just around the corner, and people in high places know it… But what will the biblical Wormwood actually be? Traditional scholarly interpretation claims it will be an asteroid. Others postulate that the eschatological poisoning of one-third of all Earth's waters and the devastation of our planet's ecology might not be as detectable as we may believe: it could hit suddenly and without warning, like an angel of God appearing in the sky with fire and light, bringing judgment in an instant. Follow Thomas Horn as he blazes a trail through these questions and many others, posing answers that very few in the church today are willing to provide. FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Examines asteroid threats to Earth, including Apophis (named after the Egyptian god of chaos), which is a topic of serious discussion among experts in planetary defense Includes interviews with government impact specialists, scientists, Bible scholars, and prophecy experts

Book Short Summary:

Connects the arrival of a new type of children with the fulfillment of the Fifth World of the Mayan Calendar and other great prophecies • Provides detailed information about the world changes that will take place before and after December 21, 2012 • Explores the seven "root races" representing the genetic gene pool of the human family and the phenomenon of soaring intelligence • Explains the grand sweep of human evolution and the worldwide ascension of energy now occurring, which will take humanity to the next level of development According to prophecy, the fifth sun or fifth world of the Mayan calendar moves into a higher octave of vibration, or ascension, on December 21, 2012. This date represents a "gateway" of planetary development that will open humanity to new ways of living and new worlds of opportunity. Ancient traditions have foretold that our successful passage through this gateway depends on the "fifth root race"--new stock in the human gene pool--destined to help us through the exciting and massive changes ahead. In Beyond the Indigo Children P. M. H. Atwater illuminates the characteristics of the fifth root race, the capstone being the extraordinary "new children," those brilliant and irreverent kids born since 1982. She explores the relationship of the new children to the prophecies in the Mayan calendar and other traditions, providing extensive background information about the seven root races (the sixth and seventh of which haven’t yet appeared) and the great shifting of consciousness already underway. She reveals the connection of the seven root races to the seven chakras, and how the fifth chakra--the chakra of willpower--will be opened for humankind as the new children grow to maturity. She also discusses the phenomenon of soaring intelligence and undeveloped potential and provides concrete guidance and tools for those who seek to understand and help the new children achieve their full potential. Beyond the Indigo Children is the first major study of today’s children, and their place in our rapidly changing world, that combines objective research with mystical revelation and prophecy.

Book Short Summary:

"Will St. Malachy's Prophecy of the Popes be fulfilled in 2012? ... are these the End Times?" "The Rapture of Darkness"....is the inspiring story of an American Vice-President, an Irish Bishop, and a Professor of Antiquities determined to save the Catholic Church, America and the World before the arrival of the "Doomsday Date" of December 21, 2012. “Finally, a novel has been written as an antidote to 'The Da Vinci Code' and 'Left Behind' series!" Most believe that Cal St. Martin is the debonair professor of antiquities at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. But the new American president, Mike Rounds, knows the real truth— Prof. Cal St. Martin is a man with a hidden past––and a secret mission. Three days before the Presidential election, the story begins when a satellite falls from orbit and strikes Washington, D.C. Mike concludes that it isn’t a random event or terrorism when a strange gold box is found amidst the wreckage, addressed to—”The Future Bishop of Armagh, Ireland.” Then, four members of the U.S. Supreme Court vanish without a trace and several top-secret stealth planes go missing. So, Mike goes to Armagh, Ireland to deliver the gold box to the new Archbishop, Diarmuid Martin, and sets out to discover who is responsible for the strange events. Mike’s journey takes him into a world of international political intrigue, adventure, and religious mystery involving stolen relics, missing underworld leaders, end times predictions, and the prophecies of an obscure twelfth-century Irish saint named Malachy. As Mike solves the mystery of who is responsible for the thefts and abductions, the Archbishop unravels clues left by Professor St. Martin which will answer the questions on everyone’s mind... ... Are these the Last Days? ... And will “Doomsday” 2012 really bring the end of the world?

Book Short Summary:

Redemption and Resistance brings together an eminent cast of contributors to provide a state-of-the-art discussion of Messianism as a topic of political and religious commitment and controversy. By surveying this motif over nearly a thousand years with the help of a focused historical and political searchlight, this volume is sure to break fresh ground. It will serve as an attractive contribution to the history of ancient Judaism and Christianity, of the complex and often problematic relationship between them, and of the conflicting loyalties their hopes for redemption created vis-à-vis a public order that was at first pagan and later Christian. Although each chapter is designed to stand on its own as an introduction to the topic at hand, the overall argument unfolds a coherent history. The first two parts, on pre-Christian Jewish and primitive Christian Messianism, set the stage by identifying two entities that in Part III are then addressed in the development of their explicit relationship in a Graeco-Roman world marked by violent persecution of Jewish and Christian hopes and loyalties. The story is then explored beyond the Constantinian turn and its abortive reversal under Julian, to the Christian Empire up to the rise of Islam.

Book Short Summary:

How do Christians make relationships with land central to their faith? How have the realities of materiality, geography, and ecology shaped Christian territories of belonging and theologies of territory? What social-economic-political conditions surround exchanges between religion and nature? This book explores how Christianity intersects with nature to create unique religious landscapes. Case studies range from the Mormon Trail across the USA completed by thousands every year, to the Catholic devotional cult of and shrine to St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina. Contributors examine the entangled forms of agency between nature and culture that are at work as Christians produce, consume, experience, imagine, inhabit, manage, and struggle over formations of land. Focusing on Christian engagements with land forms in the early 21st century, this book advances the spatial turn in the study of religion, contributes to the anthropology of religion and the study of global Christianities, as well as our understanding of the relationship between Christianity, space and place.

Book Short Summary:

The missing piece to God’s end-time plan is you. Through more than forty years of ministry, Pastor Larry Huch has seen a trend: Christians are living well below the promises and covenants of God. He says they are missing out in part because they don’t fully understand where we are on God’s biblical timeline. In this timely book, Huch, a respected teacher on the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith, reveals seven Bible prophecies unfolding right now that will release God’s end-time outpouring of supernatural blessings and miracles into the world and into our lives. Every day ancient prophecies are unfolding in the world. Prophecies that we have read about but could only imagine are actually becoming reality in our lifetime. In every realm and sphere of life the missing pieces are coming together. What was sketchy and vague in the past is becoming crystal clear right before our eyes! In The Seven Living Prophecies, Huch uncovers these ancient Bible prophecies, mysteries, secrets, and hidden truths that are coming to pass and ushering us into the great outpouring of God in the last days, the rebuilding of the tabernacle, the latter rain of miracles, and the coming of the Messiah! This book will draw you to the Jewish roots of your faith so that you can experience the blessings that God prophesied.
