Book Short Summary:

When first published in 1983, Biblical Words and Their Meaning broke new ground by introducing to students of the Bible the principles of linguistics, in particular, on lexical semantics -- that branch that focuses on the meaning of individual words. Silva's structural approach provides the interpreter with an important lexical tool for more responsible understanding of the biblical text and more effective use of standard exegetical resources. This revised edition includes a bibliographical essay by Silva, "Recent Developments in Semantics," and an appendix by Karen H. Jobes, "Distinguishing the Meaning of Greek Verbs in the Semantic Domain for Worship," that provides the reader with a substantive example of lexical study.

Book Short Summary:

“Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb” (Revelation 19:9). What is the end of the age? What is the wedding supper? Are you prepared? Like us, the apostles asked those very questions. In the Bible, the wedding supper refers to what will happen at the end of the age. Jesus answered by telling the apostles the parable of the ten virgins, a reference to those on earth who know about the end of days. He advised the apostles that only half of those who know the end is coming will be prepared; only half of those who know about the end of days will have enough oil to keep their lamps burning through the long night of waiting. The other half will be at the market looking for oil and will miss the coming of Jesus. That would mean half of the people who know that Jesus is coming back are not prepared for his return. We need to gather oil for our lamps throughout our lives through prayer, through reading the Bible. The Holy Spirit was sent to prepare us for the wedding supper. Does God still perform miracles or speak to His people? At the age of four, I clearly heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say to me, “You can have joy in your life if you walk with me.” This is a personal testimony of how the Lord heals the ones He loves, walks with us, and surrounds us with His peace.

Book Short Summary:

The standard style guide of the Christian publishing industry, The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style, 4th Edition, compiled by veteran Zondervan editor Robert Hudson, contains clear guidance on style questions related to religious writing, including many topics not addressed in other references or online. Nearly half of this fourth revision is made up of new material, including information about turning blogs into books, the effects of digital media on writing, “adverbial doubles,” “vanishing accents,” word-choice strategies, endorser guidelines, and much more. It also contains an all-new “Word List” which makes up more than a third of the book. The most needful information remains—entries on capitalization, abbreviation, citations, fictional dialogue, and more—but it has all been updated to keep pace with changes in English language usage. This fourth edition also corresponds with The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition (2010), though it isn’t afraid to chart new territory where that reference is unhelpful on issues of religious writing. Comprehensive yet easy-to-use, The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style, 4th Edition, is a go-to resource for Christian authors, pastors, teachers, copy writers, editors, proofreaders, publishing and ministry professionals, executive assistants, and students—anyone who writes or edits as a part of their work or study—and for grammar aficionados everywhere.

Book Short Summary:

As experiences of suffering continue to influence the responses of identity groups in the midst of violent conflict, a way to harness their narratives, stories, memories, and myths in transformative and nonviolent ways is needed. From Suffering to Solidarity explores the historical seeds of Mennonite peacebuilding approaches and their application in violent conflicts around the world. The authors in this book first draw out the experiences of Anabaptists and Mennonites from the sixteenth-century origins through to the present that have shaped their approaches to conflict transformation and inspired new generations of Mennonites to engage in relief, development, and peacebuilding to alleviate the suffering of others whose experiences today reflect those of their ancestors. Authors then explore the various peacebuilding approaches, methods, and initiatives that have emerged from this Mennonite narrative and its preservation and dissemination in subsequent generations. Finally, the book examines how this combined historical sensitivity and resulting peacebuilding theory and practice have been applied in violent conflicts around the world, noting both successes and challenges. Ultimately, From Suffering to Solidarity attempts to answer a question: How can a robust historical infrastructure be used to inspire empathetic solidarity with the Other and shape nonviolent ways of transforming conflict to thrust a stick in the spokes of the cycle of violence?

Book Short Summary:

Although most Christian women wear several hats covering many responsibilities, many have little time to fulfill their desire to be of service to the Lord and others. Have you ever wished that you could do more than you are doing right now for the Lord? Have you ever thought about serving in your church community but nothing seems to fit your time frame or abilities? Whether you are a wife, mother, partner to your spouse, sole breadwinner, or even a career woman, most Christian women have a heart for serving the Lord. However, women often do not know where to start even though they may have a deep longing to serve God and others or to bring Christ's message to those who don't know him. This book will show women the importance of and the ease of engaging in Active Relational Christian Mentoring (ARCM). Through true mentoring stories, the author also explains and demonstrates the importance of Christ being at the center of all mentoring relationships. Having Christ at the center of the braided three-strand cord of mentoring means positive, meaningful, and loving help is there for both the mentor and mentee. The three-strand cord of ARCM also provides a caring and efficient way for Christian women to support, encourage, enlighten, and empower other women through the development of godly mentoring relationships. It is through their personal relationships that women are given the opportunity to shine the light of Christ on others. You can do it! You can mentor another woman for the Lord!

Book Short Summary:

The Practical School of the Holy Spirit - Part 5 of 8, Activate 12 Ministry Gifts in You, Get Equipped to Counsel Self, Others and Expect Mind-boggling Insights in the Secret Place What is my motivation for writing this book and why would you want to read it? As we engage the marketplace as ambassadors of Christ – 2 Corinthians 5:21, never before has there been a need to be led by the Spirit of God than it is now. As we race towards the end, activities in the realm of the spirit continue to be heightened because the destiny of the human race hangs in the balance. Our ministry of reconciliation cannot be done on human wisdom, intellect, tactics or strategy devoid of the power and the working of the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we should realize that we are spirit with a mind using our bodies as containers to execute. As Christians, our spirit has joined with the Spirit of God at conversion. To be motivated in body, we have to first be motivated in our spirit. The Spirit then communicates to our spirit and this to our minds and our minds instructs our body to take action based on the instruction sent to us by God’s Spirit in us. But for lack of understanding and knowledge of the working and ways of the Holy Spirit, some of us have either ignored or grieved the Holy Spirit. As a result, our sensitivity to Him has died or He has chosen not to lead us any longer. This series on the school of the Holy Spirit will help heighten our sensitivity and working with our best friend who is ready and willing to help us be all that God has called us to be and to do. At the end of this series, some of us will begin to dream dreams with more clarity and poise, we will be activated in the realm of visions again, we will begin to pick up promptings, voices, flows from the Holy Spirit and interpret them accurately what the Holy Spirit is saying to us the churches so that we can be effective in the mission field of life. We developed these 41 series and further broke these up into 6 easy to read chapters of 8 books of which this one is our fifth in the series. We hope you like it and we pray it will make you an effective kingdom disciple-maker, operating powerfully in the Spirit realm in Jesus name, Amen

Book Short Summary:

Examining the lives of notable women, this study of biblical stories teaches the significance of the Black women who brought civilization into existence. Many stories in the Bible are about men. Most studies do not take a female perspective on the exploration of the lived experiences of the women of the Bible. Truthful Reaching Back...Moving Forward does just that, focusing on those stories that depict ordinary women doing extraordinary things that were noteworthy. It allows the opportunity for reflection as we move forward and embrace what these women did to change and contribute to history. With guidance from the Holy Spirit, we can gain an understanding of who these women were, how they lived, and what they endured. This collection serves as a manifestation of victory for all women of color. We must look back to the places, memories, hurts, victories, and fears that history has shown us if we are to move forward positively and embrace who we are with purpose and intention.

Book Short Summary:

The purpose of this book is to fight against the lies of Satan with indisputable facts of absolute truth found only in the Word of the Lord, otherwise known as the Bible. These indisputable facts, addressed in this book, answer the following questions:Is God capable of causing His Holy Scriptures to reach us today, accurately translated from the original languages in which they were written? Is God capable of speaking into existence, out of nothing, the trillions of galaxies that make up the heavens and the universe? Is God capable of causing His absolute truth to be applicable to all of us today, thousands of years after His absolute truth was actually written? Is God capable of truly blessing the nation whose God is the Lord?Is God capable of expressing to us that which is true forgiveness? Is God capable of fulfilling His promise of eternal life?Satan's answer to all of these questions is a resounding "No, God is not capable."The research in this book details people and organizations who have offered indisputable facts that God is capable of accomplishing all of the above. It is my fervent desire to get this book into the hands of as many people as possible so that it can be used as a tool to fight the lies of Satan and, more importantly, promote the absolute truths found in the Word of the Lord, otherwise known as the Bible. It is my fervent prayer that the information and suggested actions in this book are used as tools to promote the absolute truths that God really does "bless the nation whose God is the Lord" and that the Word of the Lord, otherwise known as the Bible, is just as applicable in our lives today as it was when it was written all of those thousands of years ago.

Book Short Summary:

We are living in a time when churches seem to be going different directions in order to appease people and gain numbers. It is my contention that great deception is occurring while the church is asleep. When things get confusing, we tend to look to the world for answers, when we need to look to God for His direction. This book offers my testimony and experience of what I have seen the church accomplish in hard times, and yet urge the church with a wake-up call to heed the heart of God. We need God’s power back in our churches and with all of my heart, God longs to, once again, “manifest his presence.”

It is not a review or analysis of Jobs vicissitudes or endurance in suffering, but a reflection on a life of nobility, integrity, piousness, and god-fearing attributes that were exhibited throughout this mans experience. The book can be used for personal study, individual or group retreats, group discussions, and cell group or fellowship meetings. It will appeal to the matured believer who wants to strengthen his or her walk with God, as well as those new to the faith by offering a wider perspective on one of the most notable characters in the Bible.

Book Short Summary:

This book is about the Holy Spirit – Who is He? What does He do? And How can we relate with Him? This is a manual on the Holy Spirit baptism. It is an A to Z about the Holy Spirit and His working in our lives and in our world. Dear brethren, The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is a misunderstood topic even amongst saved, bible believing Christians. It has divided churches into factions, turned brothers and sisters apart. Now, why is that? What is responsible for this? What are the hindrances? Why are we hindering the greatest power available to us just by asking become such a dividing force? In all honesty, this is the era of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit Baptism and continuous infilling is necessary to live a life full of His presence, power and leading. With the increased outpouring of demonic activities in our world today as we race towards the end, it will be practically impossible to be effective in ministry and live a successful and victorious Christian life without the infilling and continuously infilling of the Holy Spirit for ministry in advancing the kingdom of God in a wicked world.

Book Short Summary:

We all have treasures within. When we explore those treasures, “we offer hope to a dying world.” Treasures of hope will release so many others to share their experiences without guilt, shame or condemnation. Even the soft spoken will begin to allow their stories to burst forth like thunder. In order to become an overcomer, deliverance of some sort has to take place. We have each been given a gift, not a gift of gab, but a gift of the word of our testimony. When we use our testimonies to glorify God we show others that though there will always be “tests” the “monies” are never too far behind. Move outside of yourself and inspire others to live. Come out of bondage to secrecy.

Book Short Summary:

The title Who's Paying Attention? focuses on my quest to personally know the God of All Creation and subsequently over the years to "get to grips" with the contents of "the Bible" the way God would want mankind to understand them. Included in the title logic is the use of specific help-aids in the form of Bibles, dictionaries, atlases, etc., and not forgetting prayer to God (the Father of Jesus of Nazareth), who was my most important help-aid, as generically speaking, the Bible is not an easy book to understand. Who's Paying Attention? contains some of my findings; which I can say with confidence that I received divine enlightenment from God; otherwise, I would have remained none the wiser-even after surfing much topical literature. In a nutshell, the answer to the title of this book requires that any passionately interested Bible student must adopt a role of a focused detective and at the same time rely on God through reverential prayer-for divine help to solve unclear or confusing sections of Scripture. It is on this basis that Who's Paying Attention? became the prelude to Watchman! Watchman! What of the Night?-my second book, which further demonstrates the essential reliance on God for divine enlightenment in the Scriptures, rather than skewing the approach towards man and available literature in order to obtain "a correct answer." Notwithstanding the above, we all still have much to learn about the Bible and the members of the Godhead-who were instrumental in making the Bible a reality.

Book Short Summary:

The motive of our ministry is to teach people an overview of the whole Bible in a way that they will never forget it. In the book, “Only His Sheep Will Raise Their Heads”, we examine prophecies of the End Times and give an overview of the Bible in regards to the church age that we are a part of today. the rapture of the church and the ultimate return of the Lord. “From the fig tree, learn its lesson: as soon as its young shoots become soft and tender and it puts out its leaves, you know of a surety that summer is near.” (Matthew 24:32) If this was important for the disciples, it is even more important for us! We are 2000 years closer than they were. We know from the fig tree that He is giving a spiritual analogy. Who is the fig tree in prophecy? Israel! Israel is the fig tree in the Word of God. What Jesus is bringing out here is, if you want to know prophecy, don’t look at the United States, England, Europe, etc... Look at the hub of prophecy, Israel! Those other nations are important in prophecy but the most important today, is the fig tree in the nation of Israel. We have seen the return of the Jews to their homeland. We know by the Word of God that Jesus is coming soon. How soon? We are not to know. Many years back, and not so many years back, during all of the wars that were going on people thought it was the tribulation and Israel wasn’t even mentioned yet. They were looking at the wars rather than the fig tree. We can look at the fig tree today. It’s doing fine! In fact the leaves are all over it!
