Book Excerpt :

If you accidentally bang your best friend’s younger brother, here are a few important tips . . . One: Do not brag to your friend about how well-endowed her brother is. Two: Do not go back for seconds (or thirds). Three: Do not let him see your muffin top or jiggly behind. And definitely don’t let him feed you cookies in bed. Cookies are bad. Remember that. Four: Act like a damn grown-up and apologize for riding him like a bull at the rodeo. And do not flirt with him when he laughs at said apology. Five: This one is crucial, so pay attention. Do not, under any circumstances, fall in love with him.

Book Short Summary:

Id describe this as my book of stimulation in poetry, with experiences of my life for both men and woman to enjoy. In this book I am divulging myself through poetry in a way different from others. Stretching your imagination of what you think poetry is while expressing myself on many different levels. At the same time Ill be giving you a hint at my experiences in conversations and thoughts with others. Just me riding the roller coaster of life screaming and hollering waving my hands and having a good time with writing. All of this while giving you secrets written in my poetry to leave you guessing and wondering, is this about her, her life, her relationships in love, life and marriage? Who was that about? Just making you wonder. So many thoughts in my writing that it will make you wonder about me, wonder about you and your life. All of my writings are from my heart to my pen, with a modest amount of modification and a minuscule amount of proofreading, limited enough to keep my writings as real as possible. In writing straight from your pen its never perfect and sending my book to be professionally proofread I thought would make my thoughts too unreal, too commercial; take some of my personality or zest out of my book. I wanted my writings to be as if someone was really speaking through writing. Even if my grammar was terrible, it would be the real me. The corrections I have done are straight from spell check from my laptop giggle, now we all know how that could be, but I did it anyway. Ive exposed me and my thoughts in a way that has allowed me to sky rocket to another level, to another me. Ive extended to you Theaology, THE STUDY OF THEA, Thea and the life experiences she has surrounded herself in, along with the joys of living to learn what life really was about and not the just the pretty picture we all want and or pretend it is. My painting of life is an explosion of time, painted in yellows and reds. Colors of laughter and smiles that are to abundant to count. Colors that allow me to stand in the wings of life and spilling it out to you in expression, thoughts and short stores of which will allow you to think twice about your life experiences and enjoy every single moment that god has extended to you. Now what I am asking for from each one of you while reading my book is to enjoy my book with an open mind. Dont tear it down too much but read what I have to say and live in the joy of my development of it. Let me explain briefly some of the chapters in this book. Chapter one is about loves hurts, joys and change that we all can relate to. In reading you will get a picture of what love and life is about, a picture of the happiness, the sadness, the ups and downs and the just plan sick and tired of love. My poetry will express this in every way I could imagine. Poetry of love so deep you will need a shovel to recover from it, because it pulls you in and makes you shake your head to say Ive been there. In this chapter there is a poem written in the form of a short story called, An Un-produced Movie of Romance. It is a screen play rewind; yes thats how I am going to describe it. Its the perfect story for the question, where is this love going? Chapter two, well Ive devoted this to the men, its my own unique message for them. My way of saying you are spectacular, even when we dont tell you, you shine. I speak in this chapter as if I am one of the boys. Ive removed that I am woman hear me roar attitude, and Ive learned that I couldnt roar without them as loud as I can now. In this chapter I play with 2 words Ive created, do-luscious and flow. Read it youll see what I mean, nothing but fun thoughts. My other favorite poem is The Struggle; it has a part one and a part two. Some of the woman who read these 2 poems may find objection to what I have written. But I had to say what I thought a man would say or wanted to say. The Struggle, was written

Book Short Summary:

We all age differently, but we can learn from shared experiences and insights. The conversations, or paired essays, in Aging Thoughtfully combine a philosopher's approach with a lawyer-economist's. Here are ideas about when to retire, how to refashion social security to help the elderly poor, how to learn from King Lear -- who did not retire successfully -- and whether to enjoy or criticize anti-aging cosmetic procedures. Some of the concerns are practical: philanthropic decisions, relations with one's children and grandchildren, the purchase of annuities, and how to provide for care in old age. Other topics are cultural, ranging from the treatment of aging women in a Strauss opera and various popular films, to a consideration of Donald Trump's (and other men's) marriages to much younger women. These engaging, thoughtful, and often humorous exchanges show how stimulating discussions about our inevitable aging can be, and offer valuable insight into how we all might age more thoughtfully, and with zest and friendship.

Book Short Summary:

From the civil rights struggle in the United States to the crematoria of Auschwitz-Birkenau, there are momentous stories everywhere. But only some survive to become history. Lamont Williams is a black man from the Bronx trying to return to a normal life after serving a six-year prison term for a crime for which he was wrongly convicted. Historian Adam Zignelik is an untenured Columbia professor whose career and long-term relationship are falling apart. When Lamont Williams strikes up an unlikely friendship with a patient at the hospital where he works as a janitor, he learns about the Sonderkommando--prisoners forced to work in the gas chambers and crematoria of the Nazi extermination camps. Meanwhile, Adam pursues a promising research topic suggested by a World War II veteran, a topic that might just save him professionally and even personally. When the lives of these two men intersect, history comes to life in ways neither of them could have foreseen. The Street Sweeper is an astonishing feat of storytelling that addresses the personal and the political as it sweeps across the globe, through the seminal events of the twentieth century to the present. Honest, hypnotic and redemptive, this is a novel that explores the responsibility of the historian, the weight of history on all of us, and the crucial role that bearing witness plays in breaking the cycle of human cataclysm.

Book Short Summary:

The media perceptions of a COUGAR: an oversexed, desperate older woman on the prowl for nave younger meat could not be more misleading. Every ripened woman I know to be a real COUGAR is so diverse, so deep, and so much more. The COUGAR today has evolved from a woman that has truly suffered to grow and mature. Life has dealt her a hard blow at least once in her youth to teach her what her lifes purpose is truly about. Those lessons that are the most painful are the lessons we grow the most from, and everything is as it should be. Life has taught her, with pleasure and anguish, those lessons so she can discover the real mystery of life and so she, as a spiritually minded soul, can connect to the divine divinity of life. I have been all things unholy; if God can work through me, he can work through anyone (St. Francis of Assisi). So if the COUGAR has chosen a sinful lifestyle, why is she so mysterious and why have so many now look upon her as the new sexual icon and matron of the mystery of life? Perhaps it is from her past sins that she has grown and gained the wisdom of the purpose of life, and that is what makes her the most desirable of all. Lets explore the fascinating lives of COUGARS. Lets get to know about these extraordinary women who fully embrace the COUGAR lifestyle. What makes them so astonishing? Who are they and where have they come from? What lessons has life taught them to make them so amazing? What have they been through and where are they going? Why do they love dating younger men? What keeps them so viral? How did they suddenly become so successful, smart, sexy, and powerful? How do they exhume such confidence? Why have COUGARS become such centers of attention? How have they made their middle age the new sexual icon? How have these women redefined age and relationships, as well as themselves? And lastly, what is it that makes them so astonishingly desirable?

Book Short Summary:

Depictions of cross generational relationships have always been present in popular cinema. While such relationships have historically operated within the framework of heteronormativity, and have usually explored cross generational romance in the context of older men/younger women, contemporary depictions have expanded to focus also on taboo configurations of love between older women and younger men and cross generational LGBT coupledom. Contemporary depictions have sought to complicate not only heteronormativity in cross generational relationships, but also to navigate the differences between socially acceptable love and transgressive desire. This collection focuses on the changing values and attitudes of cross generational relationships and addresses the often divisive relationship between the discourses of youth and ageing in popular culture.

  • Pdf File: screening-queer-memory.pdf

Book Short Summary:

In Screening Queer Memory, Anamarija Horvat examines how LGBTQ history has been represented on-screen, and interrogates the specificity of queer memory. She poses several questions: How are the pasts of LGBTQ people and communities visualised and commemorated on screen? How do these representations comment on the influence of film and television on the construction of queer memory? How do they present the passage of memory from one generation of LGBTQ people to another? Finally, which narratives of the queer past, particularly of the activist past, are being commemorated, and which obscured? Horvat exemplifies how contemporary British and American cinema and television have commented on the specificity of queer memory - how they have reflected aspects of its construction, as well as participated in its creation. In doing so, she adds to an under-examined area of queer film and television research which has privileged concepts of nostalgia, history, temporality and the archive over memory. Films and television shows explored include Cheryl Dunye's The Watermelon Woman (1996), Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine (1998), Joey Soloway's Transparent (2014-2019), Matthew Warchus' Pride (2014) and Tom Rob Smith's London Spy (2015).

Book Short Summary:

A Time of Magick By: Douglas T. Bradshaw Thaddeus Brimstone is one of the greatest wizards of the age. His work with potions is surpassed only by his innovations in the oft-neglected field of metamagic. He has conquered every challenge he has ever faced, and not even time can do any lasting harm to him thanks to his life-extending elixirs. The one thing that Thaddeus does not have, however, is love—the love of a woman, of children, of close friends and family. Little does he know, however, that the path to finding love might just lie in the pages of a book about a war-torn land where magick has all but disappeared. This storybook tells the tale of an ill-fated king and queen. Since Thaddeus’s youth, their story has been set—death and destruction at the hands of an invading army. When Thaddeus opens a portal to the world of the story and steps through, his interventions have the potential to reshape the lives of everyone from the most powerful kings and queens to the lowliest servants.

For the vast majority of children acquiring speech and language skills is an effortless process. However there is a sizeable proportion of children for whom this is not true. Difficulties they experience may be associated with other conditions such as cleft palate or hearing loss or they may have no obvious cause. This book provides a comprehensive picture of the difficulties that occur when speech and language does not develop in the young child. Divided into two sections the first focuses on how such children should be identified and assessed. The second section provides specific insights into communication difficulties in different conditions. Each is written by an expert practitioner and is illustrated with specific examples. Based on best clinical practice and research-based evidence it is a practical guide fully referenced for those who wish to develop knowledge further. It is essential reading for all professionals who work with children particularly those who work in community settings.

Book Short Summary:

Are we on the verge of a great apostasy in the church? “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.” —2 Timothy 4:3-4 Jesus Christ is coming back. It is certainly a Christian’s greatest hope during these difficult times. The Bible warns us that the last days will be tumultuous—wars and rumors of wars will spread (Matthew 24:6). In our age, the world seems to be spinning out of control, creating fear, confusion, and uncertainty. In addition to violence, pestilence, and epidemics, the Bible predicts a great “falling away” from God in the end times. Bible teachers call that “the great apostasy.” Are we seeing evidence today in the church of this massive rejection of sound and wholesome teaching? Bestselling authors Mark Hitchcock and Jeff Kinley team up to examine the evidence from the teachers of our time. Are today’s teachers allowing people to follow their own desires by telling them what they want to hear, as the Bible clearly predicts? Are major portions of the church ready to abandon sound and wholesome teaching? Together, Mark and Jeff explore alarming trends among today’s church leaders and they are simply stunned by what they discover. The great apostasy is coming, but is it closer than we imagine? What does that mean for the future? Let Mark and Jeff be your steady guides to the difficult days ahead.

Book Short Summary:

Feminine Lost explores the premise that all human beings are constructed of two energies, one masculine and one feminine. With the rise of the feminist movement, many women have migrated to their masculine side, some to the extent of losing access to their feminine side altogether. As a consequence, men have found their way to their feminine side. This process has had huge consequences for relationships between men and women, often leaving them feeling unsatisfied within their relationships or lonely without one. Feminine Lost examines female archetypes – the Andro Woman, the Cougar, the Good Doer, and more - that have come to the fore since the feminist movement, pairing them with their masculine opposite, and looking at how the process of attraction functions under these circumstances. When the feminine principle breaks down, the ramifications are many. Feminine Lost breaks through the misunderstanding of what it means to be feminine; it is not an outward appearance but something far more significant.
