Eva Doherty Gremmert has written a loving, poignant book about the deep joys and profound challenges of raising a son with complex physical and mental disabilities. She recounts with great suspense her struggles with skeptical doctors, stubborn educators and her own raw emotions as she strives to give her son the chance to live his best possible life. Our Time To Dance is a gentle, readable and inspiring story of faith, perseverance and fierce love." Debby Applegate, author of The Most Famous Man in America: The Biography of Henry Ward Beecher, 2007 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Biography "If you've ever wondered if you can get through the insane challenges of life and not just survive - but thrive! - you'll find the answer as you read this amazing story written by Eva Doherty Gremmert. Our Time To Dance will awaken a discovery of your own amazing power to rise above life's crushing unexpected difficulties, and even find joy in them. DeAnna Murphy, CEO of People Acuity, Author, Keynote Speaker, Top 100 Global Coaching Leader "Eva Doherty Gremmert's emotional and poignant story about her son's journey with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) was written from her heart and soul. Caring for a loved one with LGS, and recalling the countless seizures and hospital visits, is not an easy thing to do. But Eva's passion for her son is apparent through her writing. This book, Our Time To Dance, is highly recommended for any parent or caregiver who feels alone in their LGS journey." Christina SanInocencio, Executive Director LGS Foundation (Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome) "A triumphant memoir! With unflinching candor and poignant acumen Gremmert potently captures and conveys the joy and sorrow of mothering a child with a disability. The achievement of the memoir is its refusal to sentimentalize the mother's very real struggles in raising her son, while simultaneously challenging normative assumptions that position disability as a burden. Our Time to Dance is not only a journey to joy but a maternal rendering of the hero's quest. A book for all mothers to read and rejoice in!" Book Short Summary:

Two for Joy is the heart-warming true story of disabled twins Thomas and Alice, and their desperate fight for life after being born four months prematurely. James Melville-Ross, their father, tells of how the twins not only survived – despite being given the last rites as babies – but also thrived. From the dramatic first few months of the twins' lives – when Alice suffered a heart attack when only a day old, and Thomas's lungs filled with blood, leaving him only twenty minutes away from death – Two for Joy reveals the path that James and his wife Georgie have followed as parents to two severely disabled children. After the initial anger came the sheer hard work: the sleepless nights; the hospital dashes; the curious stares and unwelcome comment from strangers. But slowly came acceptance and, eventually, celebration of the joy that the medical marvels Thomas and Alice – now happy and energetic ten year olds – have brought to their lives. Finally they understood that disability might have turned their world upside down, but that it has also provided rewards beyond anything they could have imagined. This story is for any parent experiencing the shock of having extremely premature babies or coming to terms with having a child diagnosed with a disability. More than that, this story will change people's attitudes to disability, and show that love and true happiness can be found in even the most challenging of circumstances.

In doing the research for the book he had met Anastasia and they had agreed to go on a "Journey of Joy," and maybe fall in love. The book covers their travel experiences to Greece, Paris, London, Ireland, Marrakech and Malaysia. The travel writing is believed to be accurate and the places mentioned real. The fictional part of the book relates to the relationship that develops between Marcus and Anastasia as they become closer during their travels. A background theme is developed with Marcus who had recently fallen in love and it had changed his life. The relationship had not developed as he would have liked so he had sought the help of some spiritual advisors, and even consulted a Voodoo High Priestess, in order to understand why he had fallen in love so strongly and why he remained emotionally lost in this world of unrequited love. The advisors had told him that in a previous life, several hundred years ago, he had been a warrior named Malin and he had fallen in love with Alesia and that they were Soul Mates destined to meet again. Most of the advisors had told him that when he had fallen in love this was Malin and Alesia trying to connect in another life. The book explores the difficulty Marcus is experiencing in trying to reconcile all of these emotional and spiritual feelings with his no nonsense logical brain. He is left with the main questions, Is Anastasia the latest visitation of Alesia and is she the Soul Mate that he has been seeking all along?

Book Short Summary:

In Return to Joy, Bev DeSalvo shares her own story of healing from past pain to draw other women along a journey toward intimacy with their Savior. The road to healing is arduous and long. But when we bow our pain in worship, this broken road leads to the heart of God, where all masks are removed and divine comfort can be experienced. On this journey, understanding the true nature of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit brings healing and restoration to all father, relational, and mother wounds. Learning to aggressively fight against Satan, who is devious but not creative, replaces his evil lies with the truth of God so that they no longer define the person. Recognizing that God is always “with me” leads to a place of rest where there is no fear of being rejected or abandoned. As a result of these new insights, the reader can finally return to joy and experience emotional and spiritual balance. Out of the overflow of intimate worship, God becomes their refuge, provider, and protector, enabling them to move toward others in forgiveness and true community. Includes a ten-week Bible study.

Particularly in those turbulent years during the Second World War, from 1941 to 1945, when her husband was detained by the Japanese because of his involvement in the underground in the State of North Borneo in 1943, she was confronted with an uphill task of defending her faithfulness to the man that she had married.

Book Short Summary:

Thomas Moore is the renowned author of Care of the Soul, the classic #1 New York Times bestseller. In Ageless Soul, Moore reveals a fresh, optimistic, and rewarding path toward aging, one that need not be feared, but rather embraced and cherished. In Moore’s view, aging is the process by which one becomes a more distinctive, complex, fulfilled, loving, and connected person. Using examples from his practice as a psychotherapist and teacher who lectures widely on the soul of medicine and spirituality, Moore argues for a new vision of aging: as a dramatic series of initiations, rather than a diminishing experience, one that each of us has the tools—experience, maturity, fulfillment—to live out. Subjects include: *Why melancholy is a natural part of aging, and how to accept it, rather than confuse it with depression *The vital role of the elder and mentor in the lives of younger people *The many paths of spiritual growth and learning that open later in life *Sex and sensuality *Building new communities and leaving a legacy Ageless Soul will teach readers how to embrace the richness of experience and how to take life on, accept invitations to new vitality, and feel fulfilled as they get older.

Book Short Summary:

The premise of this book is that God has designed a roadmap for Christians who have lost their way, so that they can return to Him and to a life of clean joy without regret, in the context of grace. Using many different scriptures and principles the author has spelled out the plan for return, which he says will work for any backslidden Christian who faithfully follow it. But the way back is not easy, which is why "Return To Joy" is written in a simple step-by-step style, to allow seekers to find their way back to God at their own pace. This is a self-help manual, not a great theological treatise. Anyone who can read and understand simple English should be able to use this book to help them get back to God and return to His joy.

Book Short Summary:

“The Joy Luck Club is one of my favorite books. From the moment I first started reading it, I knew it was going to be incredible. For me, it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime reading experiences that you cherish forever. It inspired me as a writer and still remains hugely inspirational.” —Kevin Kwan, author of Crazy Rich Asians Amy Tan’s beloved, New York Times bestselling tale of mothers and daughters, now the focus of a new documentary Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir on Netflix Four mothers, four daughters, four families whose histories shift with the four winds depending on who's "saying" the stories. In 1949 four Chinese women, recent immigrants to San Francisco, begin meeting to eat dim sum, play mahjong, and talk. United in shared unspeakable loss and hope, they call themselves the Joy Luck Club. Rather than sink into tragedy, they choose to gather to raise their spirits and money. "To despair was to wish back for something already lost. Or to prolong what was already unbearable." Forty years later the stories and history continue. With wit and sensitivity, Amy Tan examines the sometimes painful, often tender, and always deep connection between mothers and daughters. As each woman reveals her secrets, trying to unravel the truth about her life, the strings become more tangled, more entwined. Mothers boast or despair over daughters, and daughters roll their eyes even as they feel the inextricable tightening of their matriarchal ties. Tan is an astute storyteller, enticing readers to immerse themselves into these lives of complexity and mystery.
